Trip Focus: Medical, Construction, Children's & Adult Ministry.

OHC short term teams partner with Quiche village families in the beautiful mountain areas of Chichicastenango, where OHC Minister Pat and Carol Hile and their family were full time missionaries many years ago. Through the church family relationships, Pat & Carol Hile continue to maintain & mentor in leadership through conferences & training exercises each year. OHC has the opportunity to partner with many of the rural churches Pat & Carol Hile and many others sowed years ago.

We also partner with Mission Frontiers. This organization serves communities through their partnership with local Pastors, in providing many types of relief efforts and developmental projects. This mission journey provides OHC teams the opportunity to partner in providing medical, children & adult outreach (through Bible dramas, praise, crafts, and activities) in various remote village areas to the Quiche people, in further aiding the brethren in their efforts to minister to their communities.

These STM trips have created a wonderful partnership & friendship as we serve alongside one another for God’s Kingdom vision. Past teams have ministered in many ways: medical, dental, children & adult ministry, along with training in the following areas: children and adult ministry, recovery, teaching, leadership, and choir, etc.

Guatemala Itinerary (tentative)
June 9:  Depart San Antonio early; arrive in Guatemala around noon. Load up into bus for a 3-4 hour bus ride to the mountain areas of Chichicastenango & settle into Casa Del Rey. Team orientation after arrival.
June 10 - 12: Minister to different areas with medical, children/adult ministry, & widow home construction; team effort between local Quiche leaders and our OHC Team leaders.
June 13:  “Day Off” in Chichicastenango where we experience “open air market day” & enjoy a true “market day experience.”
June 14: Village ministry (same as June 11-13, above)
June 15: Depart “Casa Del Rey” & travel towards our departure city of Guatemala City; in route we visit Lake Atitlan area & stay in Antigua for the night. We departure to Guatemala City early Sunday morning.
June 16: Depart Guatemala City; arrive in San Antonio late evening.

Trip Details:

Trip Cost: $2,050. Land cost is $1,300; all inclusive: meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, interpreters, bottled water, sightseeing, ministry supplies, etc. Airfare cost is $750; OHC MUST arrange all Airfare travel.

Place of Stay: Casa Del Rey is a hotel located on the mountainside overlooking the city of Chichicastenango. Each room is double or triple occupancy with a large area room with a fireplace and sitting room. The hotel has showers, with hot water; bathroom facilities are included in each room. Breakfast & dinner are included in trip cost. Dinner will be buffet-style, including soup, salad, main course, with dessert.

Trip Orientation/Team Meetings: We will have several Team meetings prior to our trip. We will provide you with a Team Informational Packet at the 1st Team Meeting. Team Meetings are required and will focus on building team unity, learning about the culture of our designated country, discuss and plan for our in-country service.
