Thank you for your interest to being the hands and feet of Jesus to serve in the areas impacted by Harvey. OHC has teamed with Disaster Response Team (DRT) and Samaritan’s Purse (SP) to serve alongside local churches; they have extensive experience to quickly mobilize help in an effective, efficient and safe manner. They have teams in place and are set up to accept volunteers. Teams will primarily do clean-up and demolition work as directed by our partners.
SERVE: Initially, OHC teams will serve in the following areas:

  • Portland/Rockport through Disaster Response Team
  • Victoria area through Samaritan’s Purse


DRT / OHC SCHEDULE: OHC teams will serve on a 3-day trip schedule:

  • Meet FRIDAY afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the designated OHC campus for an initial orientation.
  • Travel together from the campus to the designated location by van operated by OHC
  • Serve Saturday & Sunday
  • Return Sunday evening after dinner.

SP / OHC SCHEDULE: OHC teams will serve on a 2-day trip schedule:

  • Meet THURSDAY afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the designated OHC campus for an initial orientation.
  • Travel together from the campus to the designated location by van operated by OHC
  • Serve Friday & Saturday
  • Return Saturday evening after dinner

STAY: We will stay in local churches / facilities. We will notify team members of what you need to bring for your accommodations.
MEALS: Our teams will be provided meals while serving.
COST: A donation of $50 per person ($100 maximum for families) is requested to defer the cost of travel and meals.
AGES: Volunteers must be at least 14 years or older. Youth, ages 14-15, must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian. Youth, ages 16-17, must be accompanied by an adult chaperone (age 21 or older). All youth must have a signed Youth Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability. If not accompanied by their parent, this form must be notarized.
TEAM SIZE: Up to 24 members per team. OHC will have Trip Leaders. Each campus will take ownership of a specific weekend and designated team. We encourage you to join a team that corresponds to your campus. If that team date is not convenient, you are welcome to join any other OHC team. You do not have to be a member or attendee of OHC to serve on an OHC team.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION: All volunteers will need to complete an OHC Volunteer application, complete with three references. OHC will conduct a background check on all volunteers over 18 years of age. Once you sign up to join an OHC Disaster Relief Team, you will receive another email with additional information required from each team member. Once your application and background check is received, you will be notified of your approval to serve on a team.

October 13 - 15:  Week 5 Trip to Portland w/DRT/OHC

October 20-22:  Week 6 Trip to Portland w/DRT/OHC - DEPARTS from OHC Journey Fellowship

October 5 - 7: Week 4 Trip to Victoria - 7 Men / 5 Women ONLY - DEPARTS from OHC Crownridge Campus

October 12 - 14: Week 5 Trip to Victoria - 7 Men / 5 Women ONLY - DEPARTS from OHC Alamo Ranch Campus

October 19 - 21: Week 6 Trip to Victoria - 7 Men / 5 Women ONLY - DEPARTS from OHC Crownridge Campus
