At Oak Hills Church, we are committed to serving and loving our city and its people. We follow the imperatives given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:31-46 to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the prisoner, and provide shelter for the stranger, all in the name of Jesus.
In serving our neighbors, we witness to God’s love while growing up in our own faith. We “grow as we go.”
Local Outreach exists to connect you - the body of Christ - with opportunities to serve and love others as Christ's ambassadors. There are currently three main areas of focus and opportunity:
1. City Serve: One of the best ways to impact San Antonio is to partner with existing, effective ministries in our city. City Serve is a new tool to easily connect you to ministries focused on a range of areas: poverty alleviation, sanctity of life, elder care, homelessness, foster care/adoption, prison, sports and other ministries. Click here or on the "search opportunities" button at the bottom of this page to find just the right service opportunity for you, your family or small group. Sign up and our partner organizations will contact you directly.
2. Mentoring: We believe that the best way to help people escape poverty is through relational investment in families, where Christ is at the center of that relationship. We are looking for individuals and families who are ready to be trained and supported in the journey of mentoring others, in cooperation with our key partner, Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries. To discuss these opportunities further or with questions, please contact Dean Mathis, Local Outreach Minister, 210-698-4646, or by email at email@example.com.
3. Affordable Housing: Studies show that providing children with a safe, affordable home is one of the best ways of breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Affordable housing is also one of our city’s greatest needs. Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio works with low-income families who would not otherwise be able to afford a home. In the fall of 2018, Oak Hills sponsored and built our first home in partnership with Habitat for Humanity for the Ramirez family. In the Spring of 2019, the Saw Tun family moved into their new home, and we are making plans for future homes. Click here to reach our Habitat for Humanity page for more information on how you can be part - serve, give and pray!

We encourage you to seek the Lord's leading in how YOU can serve our city. We commit to helping you in that journey to "grow as we go."
