The Guatemala Team will travel via airplane from San Antonio to Guatemala City, then by chartered bus to the mountain town of Chichicastenango. We will be serving under the leadership of our missionary partner, “Mission Frontiers,” for 7 days across several villages around the Chichicastenango region. Under the direction of our ministry partner, team members will be involved in the construction of homes for widows and sharing Jesus with the children of nearby villages where construction will take place.
Regardless of your experience or language knowledge, all of your multifaceted gifts can be used on this trip. Do not underestimate your value in building God’s Kingdom abroad because you believe you’re lacking an associated ministry skill. God can use your exclusive talents on our Oak Hills Church short-term team to serve Him in this mission journey. “God doesn’t call the equipped, God equips the called.”
Trip Details:
- Total Trip Cost: $2,250 Land Cost: $1,400. All inclusive: meals, lodging, in-country transportation, insurance, interpreters, bottled water, sightseeing, ministry supplies, etc. Airfare Cost: $850 OHC MUST arrange all Airfare travel.
- Place of Stay: Casa Del Rey is a hotel located on the mountainside overlooking the city of Chichicastenango. Each room is double or triple occupancy with a sitting area and a fireplace. Each room has a shower, with hot water, and bathroom. Breakfast & dinner are included in trip cost. Dinner will be buffet-style, including soup, salad, main course, with dessert.
- Trip Orientation/Team Meetings: We will have several Team meetings prior to our trip. We will provide you with a Team Informational Packet at the 1st Team Meeting. Team Meetings are required and will focus on building team unity, learning about the culture of our designated country, discuss and plan for our in-country service.
Guatemala Itinerary for the Week (Tentative)
September 17 (Travel Day): Depart San Antonio early; arrive in Guatemala around noon. Load onto the bus for a 3–4-hour bus ride to the mountain areas of Chichicastenango and settle into Casa Del Rey. Team orientation after arrival.
September 18-20 (Ministry Days): Minister to different areas with dental, children/adult ministry, and widow home construction. This is a team effort between local Quiche leaders and OHC team.
September 21 (Rest Day): Rest and enjoy Chichicastenango where we experience and enjoy a true “open air market day.”
September 22 (Ministry Day): Village ministry (same as Sept. 18-20 above).
September 23 (Travel Day): Depart Casa Del Rey and travel toward our departure city of Guatemala City. In route we will visit Lake Atitlan area and stay in Antigua for the night. We depart to Guatemala City early Sunday morning.
September 24 (Travel Day): Depart Guatemala, fly home to San Antonio, arrive late evening.
